“Life is the not the way it’s supposed to be. It’s the way it is. The way you deal with it is what makes all the difference”. This page is a shout out to all of you, dear friends of our Magda, Maggie, Madzia…simply Magda Maslowska… those of you, who have a chance to know this beautiful, bright, positive and loving person, wife, mother and a great friend. She will literally kill me for sending this email to all of you, but I’ll take her well being over her screaming any time! Some of you might not know that for the past five years, Magda has been LIVING on and off with a deadly, incurable and vicious cancer! Surprised? I am sure most of you are! She has been my greatest inspiration on how to live my life to the fullest and has touched many lives with her wisdom and love for life. Her smile is contagious, isn’t it? Most people are not even aware of the worries she faces every day, as she never stops smiling and being her real, very loving and caring self! I will never forget her wise approach to her illness.
This is what Magda said about herself and her illness: “Cancer has taught me that I have to be myself's best friend. After finding out I have a deadly and very aggressive form of melanoma, I realized my odds for long term survival are very small. But, the heck with that...Dr. Siegel has once said in one of his genius books "every cancer, even the most deadly...has at least 1 survivor". Now-that is what I call a lifelong accomplishment! ha:) There is no question that a cancer diagnosis changes your life forever. As a cancer patient, I live with an overwhelming weight on my shoulders every day. One hand touching the heavens and the other grabbing the earth. I get angry at times. I hug my husband and daughter until they can’t breathe anymore, I scream, question God, bang pots, cry my eyes out until I can't see anymore from puffiness, go for long runs that even grab my husband's attention (yes...I can actually run 3 miles!), brush my teeth 100 times a day hoping I will wash this deadly melanoma off:) Do I want to live a long and healthy life, love my wonderful husband until we’re old and wrinkled, see my daughter blossom into a beautiful and amazing woman? YES-because, my cancer diagnosis has finally taught me how to live like I mean it!"
Are you inspired and touched by this amazing woman yet? I definitely am! Beyond words…Her love heals, nurtures and inspires us to go beyond our boundaries. And this is not some Flower Child talk. All we need is LOVE. And we all love Magda! I have also never seen more beautiful and unconditional love that Magda and Tomek share with each other. That is their unbreakable foundation for "living like you mean it".
Her cancer has returned after 5 years but she is stronger than ever to fight it back! Even though, she continues working and living her life like she MEANS IT, and still smiling…she is spending a lot of time going thru radical medical treatments, to include multiple biopsies, painful surgeries and experimental treatments. She has amazing support from as she calls-the best husband in the world, beautiful daughter Amelia, amazing family, friends and her bosses and co workers, allowing her to live as normal and happy as possible. This fundraising project was initiated by me, one of her best friends, to help put even more smiles on Magda’s face. She will kill me when she finds out, but again, I know in my heart she would reach to each one of you if you were in need! Even though she has medical insurance and continues working, the costs of her cancer treatments are overwhelming. If you did not know-cancer is expensive! Over 40K for each surgery, and she’s had 3 just in the past 5 months. I know this illness will not kill her! She is a fighter and will win this battle. What worries me is the financial stress she has to go thru on top of those painful surgeries.
In order to support Magda, I started the Human Tribe Project, to help her cope with the financial toll of the disease. Thank you for your prayers and any donation you can afford! This for sure will fill Magda’s heart with overwhelming happiness. Again, I am so grateful for your prayers and for your financial support if you are able to give. Please contact me with any questions by phone at 847-809-7119 or by email at zuztom@netzero.com. Lots of love!
Warmly,
